Meaghan O’Connor-Vince is employed at Barnstable High School in Hyannis, Massachusetts, where she teaches Jazz Band, Hip-Hop, and the Music Technology curriculum which she created upon hiring. She has also taught the following classes, History of Rock and Roll, The Blues to Beyoncé and the History of Hip-Hop. Meaghan has also held the positions of Pit Director, teacher advisor for Barnstable’s chapter of TRI-M, Heavy Metal Club, Hip-Hop Club and Symphonic Band Director.  As a member of the Cape Cod music community, Meaghan has served as the Cape Cod Music Educators Association’s (CCMEA) Webmaster and secretary, each position for three years. She’s also been CCMEA’s High School Music Festival Concert Chair, Assistant Band Manager, Manager for the Festival Concert Band, Southeastern Massachusetts Music Educators Association’s (SEMMEA) Executive Board from 2014- 2016, with the position of Junior District Concert Band Assistant Manager and Junior District Concert Band Manager. Currently Meaghan adjudicates and assists with the Composition Contest both at the Southeast Massachusetts Festival and at the Massachusetts All State Festival.  

In 2016, Meaghan graduated with her M.A. in Music Education through Teachers College’s INSTEP Program at Columbia University. Upon graduating from Columbia, Meaghan’s Hip-Hop Unit was published through an online music classroom platform called MusicFirst, under the direction of Dr. Jim Frankel. Shortly afterwards, Meaghan was named a MusicFirst Ambassador, an educator who works with the company presenting at conferences, writing articles and lesson plans for the international company. Currently she sits on MusicFirst’s Teacher Advisory Panel, providing teacher feedback and content. 

Meaghan’s also been frequently published in the Massachusetts Music Educators Journal (MMEJ) for her evolving curriculum with music technology and hip-hop. In 2023, Meaghan earned the title of Technology Editorial Board Member of MMEJ. Meaghan circulates the New England and the Tri-State area, presenting and attending conferences such as: Connecticut Music Educators All State Conference, New Jersey Music Educators In Service Music Conference, the Audio Engineering Society (AES) High School Educators Conference and the Massachusetts Music Educators All State Conference. She has also presented at National Conferences such as TI:ME (Technology In Music Education) and the Association for Popular Music Education (APME), in San Antonio and Detroit respectively. 

Meaghan graduated from the University of Rhode Island in May 2013, with her B.M. in Music Education. At URI, she studied saxophone with Jared Sims and Greg Dudzienski, in both jazz and classical. Meaghan was also fortunate enough to be a part of the Art program at URI. Upon graduating, she received a minor in the Visual Arts. 

In her free time Meaghan enjoys spending time with her friends, family and her husband, attending concerts, or enjoying the New England/Boston dominance in sports.
