Students learn about basic history and characteristics of different genres of music. This creates a general basic knowledge and appreciation for various types of styles of music. This also creates a narrative for American Music, understanding how genres are connected. All Music Technology students explore the Genre Unit. Each student(s) is assigned to a different genre, and has to create a short summary of the history of the genre and present it to the class through a PowerPoint presentation. Project can be done in pairs. Use the genres listed in the submenu for a starting reference.
